Home base

Chicago itself

Our yard sits right on Walton Street in the Austin neighborhood, and this is still where most of our work happens. From the alley-loaded two- and three-flats right around our own yard, east through Garfield Park and Humboldt Park's mix of greystones and boulevard-facing houses, north through the classic bungalow belt of Belmont Cragin and Hermosa, and west across Austin Boulevard into Oak Park's Frank Lloyd Wright-era streets, we have put containers on just about every kind of lot this city has — including a good number of tight, alley-only lots everyone else said could not be done.

If the container has to sit on a public street, sidewalk or alley rather than your own driveway or yard, Chicago requires a dumpster/roll-off permit from CDOT (the Chicago Department of Transportation) under Municipal Code of Chicago §10-28-799 — and in this city, an alley legally counts as public way the same as a street, which matters given how many Chicago lots load from the alley rather than the driveway. Private property itself is unregulated. Outside Chicago, every incorporated suburb in our service area — Oak Park, River Forest, Elmwood Park, Forest Park and Berwyn — handles its own placement permits through its own village or city hall, entirely independent of both CDOT and Cook County, which has no role in street permitting anywhere in our service area. Confirm the current fee and process directly, and allow lead time before you plan a same-day drop. Prohibited items follow Illinois EPA guidance statewide, and Chicago Dept. of Streets & Sanitation — Blue Cart Recycling is the resource we point customers to for the categories a roll-off legally cannot take: paints, fuels, chemicals, batteries and electronics.

FAQs

Service area questions

Do you charge more for towns further from Chicago?

Our flat rate already accounts for the run, and every town on this page is inside our normal radius so you are not paying a distance surcharge. If you are outside the listed area, call (312) 634-6846 and we will tell you straight away whether we can serve you and what it would cost.

My town is not listed — can you still deliver?

Often, yes. The list covers where we run regularly across Cook County, but we stretch beyond it for the right job. One phone call settles it.

Do permit rules change from town to town?

Private-property placement itself does not change — a driveway, yard or lot never needs a permit anywhere we deliver. What changes is who issues a permit for the public way. Inside Chicago proper (including every community area on this page), that means CDOT (the Chicago Department of Transportation), and it covers alleys as well as streets and sidewalks — a genuinely Chicago-specific wrinkle. In each incorporated suburb we serve — Oak Park, River Forest, Elmwood Park, Forest Park and Berwyn — the town's own village or city hall handles it instead, independent of CDOT and of Cook County, which has no permitting role anywhere in our service area. Always check with the specific office for the town you are actually in.

Can you deliver to multiple addresses for one project?

Yes — property managers, realtors and contractors do this regularly. Tell us the addresses and the sequence you want them served and we will schedule the run. Certificates of insurance for multiple sites are no problem.
